Fundraiser for a World First Scientific Expedition
Conquering the 'Northern Pole of Inaccessibility'
Chamonix resident, Catherine Toleman, has been selected to take part in a world first expedition to gather crucial scientific information from the Northern Pole of Inaccessibility.
There are apparently four north poles, and this one remains, so far, un-reached by mankind. That's set to change when Catherine and her team mates, led by explorer Jim McNeil, will attempt to reach it for the first time in February 2016.
The plan is to cover 800 miles in around 80 days collecting scientific information about the area on their way.
The fundraising event at The Pub, will be held on Saturday 5th September from 21:00 and aims to raise funds for equipment, training and contribute towards gathering this crucial field data.
Catherine is hoping that any money raised over her initial target will be donated to a charity of her choice.
