Situated in La Folie Douce Hotel, it's the perfect place for traditional alpine cuisine with a modern twist.

Alpine cows have a lot to offer and the chef knows this! Enjoy traditional alpine food with a modern twist.

You can still enjoy traditional food there, like fondue and raclette, but prepare yourself for their innovative twist on the traditional Savoyard experience.

Open every evening from 19:00 to 23:00.

Located at the Flégère ski area, their restaurant offers a pleasant and bright setting for your meals.

Enjoy your lunch in a restaurant that is both modern and Alpine. Thanks to the large windows overlooking Mont Blanc, the space is bright and welcoming. Stone and wood details add a warm, cosy atmosphere. The spacious terrace, with views of the Mer de Glace and the Mont Blanc massif, enhances the experience on sunny days.

The menu, created by Maison des Drus, features ingredients sourced from local producers, offering a variety of starters and main courses, including vegetarian and vegan options.

Located at 182 Rue Joseph Vallot, this welcoming spot is a favourite among locals and visitors seeking delicious food, drinks, and a relaxed Alpine vibe.

The menu celebrates regional cuisine, with highlights like the rich, cheesy tartiflette and other hearty local specialties. Each dish is crafted with care and pairs beautifully with the bistro’s extensive selection of regional wines. Whether you’re popping in for a casual lunch, enjoying drinks with friends, or settling in for a full dinner, Bistrot Des Sports delivers consistently satisfying flavours.

Inside, the décor adds to the experience, from charming rustic touches to eclectic displays that spark conversation. The friendly, attentive staff ensure every guest feels at home, while indoor and outdoor seating options allow you to enjoy the snowy scenery or the lively street views.

4. Le Sérac Restaurant

Situated in Chamonix's centre, this restaurant serves traditional cuisine as well as classic French favourites.

Their three-course Tradition menu is a good way to try some of the local specialities, including croute, tartiflette or fondue. They also have an à la carte menu featuring typical French and regional recipes such as onion soup, snails, foie gras, roast duck, entrecôte, raclette and pierrade (hot stone). If you fancy something lighter, then they also serve a selection of pasta dishes, salads and a daily special.

Open every day (except Tuesday and Wednesday) from 11:45 to 14:00 and from 18:45 to 21:30.

Le Monchu Restaurant, Chamonix Centre style of cuisine

5. Le Monchu Restaurant

Located to the right of the Casino in the centre of Chamonix (that's the actual gambling casino as oppose to the supermarket).

'Monchu' means 'monsieur' in the local patois Savoyard language, but Chamoniards used the word to refer to rich Parisian tourists who came to the mountains in the 19th and early 20th century in search of some fresh Alpine air.

This restaurant, founded in 1972, is full of quirky knick-knacks, including old coffee grinders, 18th century agricultural tools and Savoyard objects, which create a rustic and cosy atmosphere.

Their fondues range from the traditional Savoyard to the Royale, which includes champagne in the mix!

All the typical Savoyard fare is on offer, including tartiflette, pierrade de boeuf (where you cook your own meat on a hot stone). The portions are ample and the price is pretty reasonable too.

The interior is very warm and rustic, with an authentic Alpine feel to it.

La Caleche Savoyard Restaurant, Chamonix interior

6. La Caleche Savoyard Restaurant

This restaurant offers a true Savoyard experience serving all the traditional regional fare as well as other brasserie specialities.

This large restaurant has plenty of space for a group meal, while retaining a cosy and warm feel perfect for a romantic dinner. Its terrace is great both in the summer and winter.

If you don't mind dining whilst being stared down on by a menagerie of stuffed animals, and enjoy a more traditional and cosy setting to eat your fondue, then definitely add this to your list.

The staff are happy to talk you through their extensive menu which includes a number of choices for fondues - you can have Swiss fondue (with Gruyere), French fondue (with Comté), and Fondue cèpes - our favourite. Specialities include escargots, foie gras, onion soup, tartiflette, pierre chaude, raclette, as well as Savoyard meats and fish from the Alpine lakes. Their wine list is extensive and carefully curated.

Open every day from 12:00 to 14:30 and from 19:00 to midnight. Non-stop service from 12:00 to 23:00 during the peak summer and winter season.

Le Boccalatte Restaurant, Chamonix style of cuisine

7. Le Boccalatte Restaurant

This restaurant is close to the train station and just a short walk from the cable car. The interior is smart yet simple and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

This restaurant is the place to go for all the best regional specialities from tartiflette to fondue; if you need a cheese fix, then look no further. Other specialities include omelettes, pizzas, choucroute and steak tartare.

The choice of fondues includes the traditional "Savoyard", one with cèpe mushrooms, one with tomatoes or one with herbs. You also have the option of having a fondue for one person - something you don't find in many restaurants.

The food is all reasonably priced, the portions are a decent size, and if cheese isn't your thing they do a good steak and have an à la carte selection too.It is popular with locals as you can always be sure that your get delicious quality cuisine at reasonable prices.

Le P'tiot Monchu Chamonix

8. Le P'tiot Monchu

Savoyard restaurant that blends tradition with a modern touch located near to the Montenvers train station.

Everything on the menu is homemade by the team headed up by Chef Samuel Richardet. 

They offer a three-course Menu du Jour every weekday, and they are open for après-ski from 16:00 until 18:00, where you can enjoy sharing platters.

It's also ideal for groups, whether you're celebrating a special birthday, organising a seminar or a private event - they can host around 100 covers. 

For summer there's a pretty terrace front and back, bursting with twinkly lights as you enjoy the sunset.
