2. Big Mountain Basecamp Bar & Restaurant

Whether you’re hungry or thirsty after a day in the mountains, Big Mountain Basecamp has you covered. Come for fresh craft beer, a relaxed restaurant atmosphere, an on-site micro-brewery, a large sunny terrace, shady beer garden and a take-out beer shop.

Just a 10-minute walk from Chamonix centre, Big Mountain Basecamp offers 20 taps of craft beer. Expect a mix of classic Big Mountain brews (including their own 0.5% NANO IPA), limited editions brewed on site in Chamonix and guest beers from some of Europe’s best craft breweries. You’ll also find a curated wine selection, spritzes, soft drinks and locally roasted coffee.

Alongside the drinks, the kitchen serves homemade artisan pizzas made with locally sourced ingredients, plus burgers, ribs and generous sharing plates.

Inside, there’s seating for around 80 people, while two large south-facing terraces are a firm local favourite. From here, you can enjoy a well-earned beer with uninterrupted views of the Aiguille du Midi and Mont Blanc.

Mumma restaurant is next door, and the restaurant offers al fresco Asian-fusion snacking and delicious cocktails.

Whether it's for a beer or cocktail in the sunny beer garden you're after, or an easy and laid-back dinner of Asian-inspired tapas snacking food, everyone will enjoy the buzzing and lively atmosphere at the Shack. The limited menu is carefully selected and still manages to offer something to please everyone. Vegetarian options available.

Live music in the form of local solo artists, bands and DJs play regularly throughout the warm summer evenings, making it hard to walk past without stopping in to listen and have a tipple or a bite.

Seating is on shared benches and lounge chairs on the street-side terrace, offering a communal, bohemian feel.

5. Stories & Beer

Stories is a local craft beer bar and taco restaurant in Chamonix. Enjoy a slice of Mexico in France.

The menu features a selection of tacos made with homemade corn tortillas, crafted from French-grown corn using their Mexican tortilla machine. Fillings include slow-cooked beef and pork, spit-grilled pork, fish, and a vegetarian option. You’ll also find sides and sharing plates, including nachos, totopos with guacamole, and totopos with esquites. For dessert, tuck into their delicious homemade churros, served with salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream – not to be missed!

The drinks menu includes twelve taps of their favourite craft beers, along with Jarritos, margaritas, and cocktails.
