Chamonix Snow Report: 19th February 2014

Continuous good snow, lower avalanche risk & hazy sun in Chamonix

featured in Snow Report Author Robin Deering, Chamonix Editor Updated

Great snow conditions everywhere around Chamonix, with a wonderfully soft base and mild temperatures, however the visibility has not been great - today being no exception. The good news comes in that the the avalanche risk has finally dropped to 2/5, the lowest it has been in a very long time.

Laura from Chalet Beaumont in Les Houches says there has been some great snow all the way down to the bottom of Les Houches, so much so their chalet rep managed to build a kicker in between cleaning and afternoon tea!

The guys at Echo Base have been out riding the powder on Flegere and photograoher Aidan Bolger snapped this one of team rider: Andre Saudan riding between the trees.

Katia from Chamonix Nannies says with all the fresh snow, what's great is that the little ones can enjoy the snow even from the resort level.

Unsurprisingly Lorne made the most of the powder and made a run down the Glacier Du Mort, on the backside of Flegere: "25cm powder in the shade, some windpacked, some crust in the sun, avalanche activity on all aspects."

No fresh snow this morning but with today's flurries and clear skies tomorrow should make for some perfect ski conditions.

Bon ski!
