Le Cap Horn Restaurant, Chamonix - Centre interior

1. Le Cap Horn Restaurant

Location
Chamonix

This is a great place to relax and enjoy a fine dinner in comfortable surroundings. Seafood and sushi take the starring role on the menu, although you can choose from a selection of contemporary style Savoyard dishes too.

Located on Rue des Moulins, one of the oldest streets in Chamonix, take the stairs up from street level and you will find the restaurant on the upper floors of this entirely renovated building. The main dining area is split-level, bright and spacious with a high vaulted ceiling and modern alpine feel. When the weather warms up, French doors open out onto a perfectly positioned terrace overlooking the river and the Aiguilles du Mont Blanc mountains.

The menu takes you on a culinary journey of modern French cuisine intertwined with Asian influences and flavours. They also have a very popular sushi menu that you can order from in the main restaurant, or enjoy with an apéro in the bar below.

In total, this restaurant can accommodate around 250-300 diners, but the multi-level layout with mezzanine, separate dining room and lounge area creates intimate corners and a cosy ambience throughout in a modern alpine setting. Great for large groups, parts of the restaurant can also be separated off for private dinners or parties.

If you feel like continuing the night after your meal, then you just need to head downstairs to Les Caves, the late night bar area, where DJs will keep you dancing until you are ready to call it a night.

Owners, Wim Robberse and Laurence Claret-Tournier, are also the duo responsible for perennial favourites, La Caleche, offering traditional Savoyard food, La Cabane, the restaurant at the golf club in Les Praz and Le Castel, beside the Les Praz chapel.

The wine cellar counts no less than 20,000 bottles, comprised of the 950 appellations presented on the wine list. All the wines are ready for immediate consumption as the construction of the wine cellar allows certain wines to be stored for a few years before they reach their necessary maturity.
