It's been a long work in progress, but the Tunnel des Montets at Montroc is now finished.

In winter the tunnel, that is normally used only for trains, takes cars from Montroc through to Le Buet and Vallorcine when the Col des Montets is closed due to heavy snow.

Work started back in May last year with a view to finishing in Spring this year, however problems with the electrics meant that the tunnel wasn't fit to take cars through - cars would have had to wait 2 hours before the electrics in the tunnel were safe enough to travel through, not ideal!

Now, after a total spend in the region of 24 million euros, the station at Montroc, the tunnel, the electrics and car entry & exit points are all finished ready to take the first cars this winter.
