Chamonix PGHM Member Finds the 2nd Black Box from the GermanWings Crash Site
The only female member of the team found the black box whilst looking for clothes & personal effects
Alice Coldefy, the only female team member of the PHGM team sent to help at the Germanwings crash site, has recovered the missing 2nd 'black box' flight recorder.
After 10 days of searching in difficult terrain, she told local press it was "a relief" to have made the discovery.
Alice has been part of a crew recovering items of clothing and personal effects from the crash site, and it was whilst searching for these items that she found the flight data recorder. See the video below of her being interviewed [available in French only].
She said it was hard to identify as it was the same colour as the surrounding rock, but they picked it up and compared it to photos they'd been given to identify it, and confirmed it was indeed the missing black box.
Hopefully with the discovery of the flight data recorder (FDR) will shed more light on what was happening to the controls and the output sensors before the crash.
Family members of those on board the flight continue to travel to the site of the crash and an official memorial service has been arranged for Friday 17th April in Germany's most famous church, Cologne Cathedral.
