On Sunday afternoon, a paraglider tried to land in part of the Vallee Blanche known as the Salle-a-Manger.

The 38 year old, who according to local paper Le Dauphine was a Chamonix resident, had to make an emergency landing, which he managed but then fell down a crevasse after landing.

Witnesses call the PGHM rescue teams, but sadly they were unable to save him.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
