The Compagnie de Mont Blanc have detailed the next phase of their €477 million, 40-year, investment plan for the Chamonix Valley. The next three years will see significant developments at Le Tour, Flegere and Grand Montets.

The 2018/19 winter season will see a new lift replace the Marmottons and Tabé chairlifts at Grand Montets. It hasn't been specified was type of lift this will be but it will be part of the efforts to improve the beginners' area at Lognan.

For the 2019/20 season, a new replacement gondola will be in service at Flégère. This will provide a significant increase in capacity over the current lift, which frequently sees long queues.

Finally, the long-awaited replacement for the Charamillon lift in Le Tour has finally been given a timeframe for opening. The 2020/2021 winter season will see major changes at the La Balme ski area. As we've previously reported, the exact nature of the changes has been contentious. Whether this means issues with the plans have been resolved is unclear. However, having an opening date is a step in the right direction for this long-neglected part of the resort.
