Chalet & Apartment Companies Warn of Holiday Booking Scam in the Alps

French, Swiss, Italian & Austrian resorts targeted

Rental companies are warning holidaymakers of a scam website that’s fraudulently advertising holidays in various parts of the Alps.

A website now operating under the name of “Chalet Hunter” is selling holidays to resorts including Morzine, Chamonix, Les Gets, Chatel, Val d'Isere, Tignes, Verbier, Courchevel, Meribel, St Martin, Megeve and many more across the Alps.

The apartments and chalets that they advertise don’t exist under the name they are selling them as, and in fact belong to other companies. For instance Morzine based company 'More Mountain' was alerted to the fact one of their apartments is being sold under a different name by a customer who lost thousands of pounds on a fake holiday booking.

This particular complaint has been reported to the fraud squad but the advice is to double check who you’re booking with before you hand over any money. Scroll down to "Safe Online Booking" in our Holiday Booking Guide for some more advice.
