Announcement to be Made this Thursday About the Opening of Grands Montets Ski Area
Opening date for GM & commissioning of the new gondola to be announced tomorrow
We're all waiting with baited breath to hear when the partial opening of Grands Montets and the inauguration of the new Plan Joran gondola will be taking place, and it's likely that the Compagnie du Mont Blanc will be making this announcement tomorrow.
If weather conditions remain favourable (and it has been a lot colder for the last few days) they will announce the first official ski date for the season in Chamonix.
At the moment the webcams are showing a lot of rocks still poking through the snow, but at least conditions are allowing the snow canons to operate (they've been covering up the Planards nicely this morning).
If they do open this weekend, the new Plan Joran gondola will be up and running a week earlier than anticipated.. who doubted it would be ready on time?!?
