By Alison Shayler, Updated

Avalanche blasting is an skill and this video proves it.

Avalanche blasting can normally be heard in the morning following a big dump, where piste control head out early to intentionally set off avalanches with various forms of explosive devices with the intention to reduce the risks for the day ahead.

This video illustrates that a certain amount of knowledge, experience and skill are required to do it safely and properly. Fortunately this was filmed somewhere outside of France & Switzerland so rest assured!
