Earlier last year we featured some of the fantastic aerial video being shot in Chamonix by Servoz based Guillaume Bocquet. Guillaume has now formed his own company Topview Shoot which specialises in aerial images with a multicopter drone.

Guillaume works with his partner Allison Hunter who takes care of the commercial aspects of Topview Shoot and assists on film shoots. Topview have been commissioned to work on various events in the area and their films have created quite a buzz on YouTube and Facebook, in particular their Tor des Geants film in Courmayeur which was also included in a Canal Sports+ broadcast. Other events have included MB Race in Megeve, the Tour des Fiz in Passy and Le Cross du Mont Blanc.

Allison explains: "Up to now, very few people have been able to deliver the stability and fluidity required for broadcast quality film. Guillaume has hand-built our multicopters to perform at the level required. But, what adds to the results is his long experience in model aircraft piloting, enabling him to master both camera and copter simultaneously with precision and an elegant movement. One film producer commented to us that, as with helicopter filming, it's the skill of the pilot that makes or breaks the image."

Guillaume has been flying and building all types of model aircraft since childhood. He also holds a pilot's theory licence for light aircraft, accorded by the French civil aviation authority DGAC. Topview Shoot are the only drone operator in the Chamonix valley and Vallee de l'Arve to hold the accreditation which recently became the legal requirement for flying a drone anywhere on French territory.

The multicopter can take high aerial images like a helicopter but also adds a completely new dimension in being able to approach and follow subjects from every angle. "We can zoom in movement but, equally, we can keep the wide angle to show subjects and big scenery simultaneously."
