Two French climbers from the Haute Savoie region have not been heard from since Saturday when they set off for an Italian refuge.
They were planning to come back into Chamonix via l'arête du Brouillard (around 4,000m).
There has been no news of them today, even with searches being conducted by both the Aosta Valley and Chamonix PGHM search teams.
Update 7th August:
Currently thunderstorms and bad weather are hampering the search & rescue, and it's likely these will continue into tomorrow as well, making rescue by helicopter and on foot too dangerous.
The two people missing are a high mountain guide and his nephew, who should have completed their journey some time on Monday.
François Deffert, 53 years old wearing a green jacket and black pants. Xavier Chambet, 34 years old is wearing a burgundy jacket, black pants, a grey hat and a red sweater.
Anyone who's seen them or with information is asked to contact the Italian relief team on 003 90 16 58 99 67 or PGHM Chamonix on 04 50 53 16 89.
