Two Chamonix Valley hotels top of the pops with Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor, the traveller review website, has collated all the reviews on readers' favourite ski hotels in France with two hotels in the Chamonix hitting the list.

Topping the list is the Grand Hotel des Alpes, the four star hotel well-placed right in the centre of Chamonix on rue Paccard. The hotel received a deluge of complimentary comments from visitors: 'This place is amazing', 'A real surprise', 'One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in' and 'A winter wonderland'. Praise indeed!

Then in at number four on the list is the Hotel des Grands Montets in Argentiere. This chalet style hotel right at the foot of the home run at Grands Montets offers a welcoming family atmosphere. Comments on TripAdvisor included: 'A delightful stay', 'An excellent stay in a suite', 'Everything met my expectations'.

The report covered all of France for skiing and unsurprisingly, many hotels in the Alps featured in the list. As well as the two in Chamonix, the Radisson SAS Arcs 1950 and Simply Morzine Chalet des Montagnes also featured.

The TripAdvisor report took into account comments from their nine million members who leave comments, photos and even videos on places in which they've stayed all over the world at www.tripadvisor.co.uk

And whilst we're on the subject of hotels, France is looking at changing their hotel rating system as, unbelievably, there is no five star hotel rating (have you ever noticed that even in Paris there are no official five star hotels?!). If this happens, we suspect many of the luxury hotels in France's ski resorts, including Chamonix, will be vying for five star status!
