Strike warning for tomorrow
A number of trade unions have called for a national strike tomorrow (Thu 29th) that will affect many public and private sector enterprises. Banks, postal workers, teachers, hospitals and transport services will all be severely disrupted tomorrow, as workers strike over job losses and wage cuts brought on by the current economic crisis.
In addition to the sectors mentioned above, lift operators in many resorts may also go out on strike, resulting in the delayed opening of ski areas across the region. The severity of the strike will vary from resort to resort – in Les Arcs, for example, only around 10 lifties will be affected, whilst in Chamonix, the Compagnie du Mont Blanc anticipates a return to normal service by 11am.
Lift operating companies are recommending that skiers check in the morning for precise details of lift closures before heading out. You can do that from the comfort of your chalet by using our lift status button at the top of the page.
All service will return to normal on Friday.
