**UPDATED** Nissan Freeride World Tour postponed
It has now been confirmed that the Nissan Freeride World Tour will now take place on Sunday 23rd January at 11am in Courmayeur, Italy. Click here to read the official press release explaining the decision.
The riders will be competing on the Mont Fortin North Face, which summits at 2800m and allows a descent of 300m on which riders will score points based on speed, fluidity, choice of line, control and jumps. Chamonix locals Aurelien Ducroz, Sam Favret and James Stentiford will all be battling it out, as will current Freeride world champions Xavier de La Rue and Aline Bock.
Unfortunately the location will not be easily accessible to spectators, but all descents will be filmed and highlights will be shown on the big screen in Chamonix town centre as part of the weekend's events.
All of the scheduled parties, film screenings, entertainments, etc will still be taking place in Chamonix centre and in various bars around resort. There will be street fairs, stands and live music in the town centre as well as screenings of the competition. Le Choucas and Le Vert will be hosting the official after-parties tonight and tomorrow. The Courmayeur ski area is included in the Mont Blanc Unlimited pass and there is a reduced tunnel fee for holders of the pass. MBU pass holders can also take advantage of the free bus service that runs from Chamonix train station to Courmayeur twice each morning and back again 3 times each afternoon. Those who want to spend the day in Courmayeur but do not have the Mont Blanc Limited pass will need to buy a tunnel ticket for 36.80€ one way or 45.90€ return (cheaper multi-packs of tickets can be bought if you are going to visit more than once). Courmayeur lift passes cost 34€ for 3 hours, 38€ for 4 hours or 42€ for a day.
