The missing Russian couple who set off to scale Mont Blanc have been found dead today at 2300 metres.

As previously reported Tatiana Zakharova and Mikhail Zakharov, set off with hopes to climb Mont Blanc on the 29th of December but having not notified anyone in the valley their absence was only reported on the day they were due back in Russia - the 6th of January.

Since then PGHM have been running search missions which have finally resulted in the discovery of the couple in their tent at the Nid d'Aigle top station of the Tramway du Mont Blanc. They would have set up camp here after getting to this point on foot as the alpine train does not reach this point in winter months.

"They were found this morning at 10.15 in their tent where they had probably died of hypothermia - their tent was snowed under" reported a spokesperson.

Our thoughts go out their friends and family.
