Refuge Gouter to change hands
Claude and Nadine Barnier have decided to hand over the honour of being the guardians of the Gouter refuge and return to their native Isere to run the Refuge de la Pra in the Belledonne.
The new guardians will take up their post at the beginning of this summer and the job goes to Thomas Duconseille and Amélie Faure, who have previously run the Refuge des Grand Mulets.
The Gouter refuge is the highest staffed refuge in France at 3817m and is located on the classic route up to the summit of Mont Blanc. It is scheduled to undergo a big renovation this year and so places will be limited to 20 beds; it will be necessary to book before arriving.
You can book by calling +33 (0) 643 84 44 92 or emailing refuge.gouter@neuf.fr
