Moscou Mont Blanc Festival - Russian Christmas
Chamonix, being the cosmopolitan town that it is, celebrates Christmas not once but twice! Just as you've recovered from the festivities of the European festive season you can start all over again on the 5th January, for the Russian Christmas Eve. This will be the 6th year that Chamonix has welcomed its Russian guests by honouring their national traditions.
This year you are invited to join in the fun from 4.30pm at the foot of the Savoy piste, where there will be a snowman competition with hot chocolate, awards and entertainment. Later on at 7.30pm there will be an exhibition of award-winning ski and mountain films from the Moscow Vertikal Festival at the Salle du Bicententaire.
Christmas Day will be marked with a visit from the Snow Queen at the Savoy piste at 4.30pm followed by the arrival of the Snow Fairies, who will be handing out sweets and hot chocolate.
The highlight of the event is the Christmas Party at Montenvers. Trains depart at 7pm and you can look forward to an evening of fine dining and entertainment. Tickets cost €90 and can be bought in advance from the Tourist Office. The price includes a return journey on the historic Montenvers train, dinner and drinks (see menu below) and jazz music.
