More Investment & Disruption to the Chamonix Valley Train Line
Around 120 million to be spent on renovating stations and the train line from St Gervais to Vallorcine
Just when we thought we'd got the trains back in full operational service, work has started again in the last week on the modernisation of the Mont Blanc Express line between St Gervais and Vallorcine.
Work is being done behind the scenes as well as on the train tracks, tunnels and station buildings. Around 1.7m euros is being spent on operations over a 10 year period, 40 million on renewing the equipment along the line and 80 million on the tunnel des Montets.
Station buildings at Montroc, Argentiere and Vallorcine will also be getting a face lift; refreshed paint, windows, lighting and other necessities.
It's all part of a plan for the Chamonix Valley to encourage more people onto the trains, and away from private vehicles and the emissions they produce.
During the next few months there will be disruptions to the train service, and replacement buses will be in place along sections of the line. Find more info on trains and timetables here.
