Mont Blanc Tramway Redevelopment
A new breath of life is set for the France's highest train - the Mont Blanc tramway (TMB).
The top station is be be properly developed to produce a more suitable arrival point, however original plans of extending the tracks higher have been scrapped for the immediate future.
The top station will be provide shelter for those waiting for the train and a decent track will be put in place to go the last 300 metres up to the Nid d'Aigle
A new station will be constructed half way up at the col de Voza (1653m), on the Prarion domain of Les Houches which will mean the TMB will be able to continue running well into the autumn and for holiday periods.
The TMB plans to start running not just as a tourist train but as a local train service as well. Due to serve Le Fayet - Saint Gervais - Motivon every 30 minutes from 7am through to 7pm for skiers, workers and families.
The above plans hope to be realised by 2012 - watch this space.
