Mark Sutton, the stuntman who opened the London 2012 Olympics as James Bond, has died in a wingsuit accident over Trient, on the Swiss side of the Mont Blanc Massif.

The 42 year old lost his life after his wingsuit jump in Trient went wrong, jumping out of a helicopter at 3300 metres with a fellow wingsuiter he was due to land a Le Peuty but is said to have clipped the mountain side on his descent.

The jump was part of a three day wingsuit event, where a host of top wingsuiters had gathered in Chamonix to film new lines with the assistance of a helicopter.

Our thoughts go out to Mark's friends and family.
