On the 23rd of November 2012, Chamonix mountain guide Vivian Bruchez and Spanish ski mountaineer/runner Kilian Jornet achieved an incredible first - a ski descent of the Migot spur on the North face of the Aiguille du Chardonnet (3,842m).

While the North face of the Chardonnet was skied for the first time back in 1977 by Jean-Marc Boivin and Yves Detry, the Migot Spur was a totally new line and Chamonix local Bruchez had been eyeing it for quite some time. Until now, it has been impossible to ski this line due to a huge serac blocking the route. However, the effects of climate change on the glacier in recent years have opened up the possibility of making the descent and at 08.30 last Sunday Bruchez and Jornet were able to find a line and achieve this awesome first in extreme skiing.
