Since the news broke on Friday of French Olympic snowboarding champion Karine Ruby's death, more details have emerged about the incident.

It has been confirmed that Ruby was indeed roped up with two clients; a 38 year old man and a 27 year old man from Paris. In circumstances as yet unknown, the group fell into a 20m deep crevasse whilst descending on the glacier du Geant, next to the Tour de Ronde.

Karine and the 38 year old man died instantly, whilst the second man was helicoptered off the mountain with serious injuries. It has since emerged the man died in Geneva hospital Friday evening.

Karine's funeral will take place in the open air outside the church in Chamonix centre at 15:00 on Monday. The Maison de la Montagne will be open from 17:00 today, Sunday, for those who wish to leave memorials.
