A man's body was found by a Chamonix guide and his clients on their way up to the Mont Blanc, at some 300 metres further up from the cabled section on the couloir du Gouter.
After recovering the lifeless body by a helicopter, issued by the PGHM rescue services, the local police identified the man from Germany.

The cause of death is yet to be determined however considering the location of the where the body was found, it is not thought that the man suffered a fall.
However the man had been dead for a few days and was not equipped with standard mountaineering gear required on this dangerous route.
