First Ever Chamonix Skywalk Proposal

Man gets down on one knee above the void, she feels on top of the world

A Welsh boyfriend and girlfriend have become the first couple to get engaged in the Chamonix Skywalk.

James Matthews, from Newport in Wales, got down on one knee in the new Chamonix attraction the 'Step into the Void' glazed box.
Bride-to-be Sara Hacking said yes to the unique proposal that left her on top of the world and him on cloud nine.

James said: "I knew the Skywalk had just opened so it was nice to be the first couple to get engaged there - I’m sure we will set a trend."

Upcoming Events

Chamonix hosts a wide range of sporting events throughout the year. The biggest ones include the Mont Blanc Marathon in June and the UTMB trail running race in August. In March, the Unlimited Festival brings ravers to the mountains while Musilac Mont Blanc takes place a month later. At the end of July, the Cosmo Jazz Festival hosts concerts all around the valley.
