Austrian parapenter dies on Plan De L'Aiguille

A 31 year old Austrian parapenter was killed yesterday afternoon in Chamonix. The tragic accident happened following take off near the Plan de l'Aiguille at just after 14.00.

Local sources say that the pilot had launched from an unusual place close to the Plan de l'Aiguille and not from the official take off area itself. He is said to have been flying a foot launched Speed Flying wing which are 40% smaller than paragliding wings and can have dynamic flying characteristics.

The PGHM responded quickly but found the man to be dead upon arrival at the scene. An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
