The Chamonix High Mountain Military Group (GMHM) have returned from successfully scaling the West face of Kamet at 7756 meters, the 2nd highest peak of the Indian Himalayas, possibly earning them a nomination for the Piolets d'Or.

The High Mountain Military Group based in Chamonix, elites of the military mountaineering department, set off in September for the Himalayas. The group of four from Chamonix went on complete the climb in six days from an advanced base camp without oxygen and with only minimal equipment.
After a unsuccessful attempt due to bad weather the group, the group made a second successful push for the summit.
The ascent took five days from the base camp at 5800 metres and included two nights camp in the "death-zone".
This first ascent has been named Spicy Game and has been rated ED- over 2000 metres.

The video gives us a glimpse of what was involved in scaling this peak, and for those interested you can keep up with the High Mountain Military Group adventures here.
