Chamonix has a new mayor!
After 25 years behind the ‘big desk' at the Hotel de Ville, Michel Charlet has chucked his photos, special mug and whistling marmotte into a cardboard box and moved out to make way for the Eric Fournier.
The second round of voting took place last Sunday and by 20:30 on Sunday night it was all over. Eric Fournier and his ‘Vivre a Chamonix' team were declared the majority, with 23 members elected.
Fournier was head to head with Eric Lasserre, with gained 46,06% of the votes as opposed to Fournier's 53,94% which for Lasserre translated into 6 elected members.
After the champagne corks had been popped, Eric Fournier declared their reign would start with modernising the Mairie and how it functions with the assistance of his new team.
