Chamonix cops top of the pops!
It seems the Police Municipale in Chamonix are not shy when it comes to producing revenue for the state, with figures just being released for this year.
Penalties and fines issued by the Police Municipale are usually in the region of 350,000 euros (!), but this year has produced a bumper crop of fine-able naughtiness in the valley bringing in a total of 400,000 euros, up a healthy 50,000 euros on last year.
With all this money coming in, it's little wonder the Police Municipale has just relocated. No longer in the little office underneath the Mairie, the service is now in the office which was formally the 'Maison des Projets' which is in the pink Residence Univers building right opposite the train station - so we'll all have to be extra careful how we drive around that neck of the woods from now on...
