Camping banned at Tete Rousse refuge

Saint Gervais mayor prohibits bivouacking due to rockfall risk

The mayor of Saint Gervais has prohibited camping near the Tete Rousse refuge due to safety concerns.

Recent hot weather and extreme dryness of the mountains has lead to a number of rock falls in the area, such as the one which closed off the Voie Royale route last week.

The camping ban will be lifted when weather conditions change - keep up to date with the latest conditions and safety advice at the Office de Haute Montagne.
