1. Ice skating rink

This covered ice rink is based in the centre of town just behind the Place du Mont Blanc. During the winter season, it is the home of the Chamonix ice hockey team.

The town will often get together to watch lively ice hockey matches at the venue throughout the winter. It is certainly a fun night out and your throat will be hoarse from supporting the home team. Ticket costs depend on the seriousness of the match.

When the ice hockey matches aren't on, the rink is open for those that want to have a go on the ice themselves as well. You can bring your own skates or hire directly from the rink. The rink has its own café and bar, so you can warm yourself up with a vin chaud or a hot chocolate post all the fun on the ice.

La Clinique du Sport offer a range of services including: Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Injury Rehabilitation, Sports Massage, Training Camps, Fitness & Yoga Classes.

The Physiotherapy department is led by Neil Maclean-Martin, an exceptional specialist in his field, whom has worked with International teams at multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
 
Sports Massage is delivered by professionals whom are experienced, registered and insured to work in France. Massage is offered in the Clinic or at your home/accommodation.
 
Chamonix is a perfect adventure playground and base for Sports Training Camps –Triathlon specific, Trail running, Cycling and Open water swimming. Located an hour from Geneva it’s a perfect location for a short or long stay training camp.

3. Indoor climbing wall

The Chamonix valley is home to one of the largest indoor climbing walls in France. The Mont Blanc Escalade is located in Les Houches and is open all year.

With 1250m sq. of climbing surfaces, and more than 100 routes to the roof, ranging from 16 to 21 metres in height. There is a beginners wall, a kid's wall, a bouldering room and even a cafeteria. All necessary equipment is available for hire. Complete beginners can make a first ascent of the indoor climbing wall with instruction from local guides. Open to adults and children 5 or over.

They offer for private or group lessons for younger individuals or group lessons. But also one-week courses during school holidays. Their training programs for beginners will allow those who are new to climbing the chance to discover climbing in a safe environment. Learn belay techniques and how to understand the body language of other climbers. How to make your first movement on the wall, and to complete your first routes.

4. Outdoor ice rink

Located in the village centre, next to the slopes of Le Tourchet, the outdoor ice rink in Les Houches enjoys a beautiful setting with stunning views across the Mont Blanc massif.

Measuring 56 metres by 26 metres, the rink offers a generous space for skating, whether you are a beginner or more confident on the ice.

Families are particularly well catered for, with learning aids available for children, including small chairs and penguin supports to help them build confidence and improve safely.

This artificial outdoor rink is a great spot to enjoy some fresh mountain air while skating in a truly scenic alpine setting.

5. Progression fit exercise solutions

Progression fit offer a range of services including: Personal Training, Group Exercise, Sports and Massage Therapies, Corporate and One to One Fitness Assessments, Fitness Holidays and Cardiac Rehabilitation.

They also run Kettlercise classes, a group fitness class that incorporates the use of a kettlebell, training in a friendly group atmosphere. Kettlercise is carried out using lighter weights and is set out in a non-stop routine that will work every single muscle in your body to ensure you burn away fat, tone up, improve core stability and dramatically improve endurance. Chamonix outdoor pool opens this weekend

6. Chamonix sports centre

The Richard Bozon Chamonix Sports Centre has a gym (salle de musculation), with a selection of body building and cardio equipment.

There is also a sports hall where you can join in fitness sessions such aerobics, dance, circuit training, step class, stretching and toning classes. They also have children's sports classes and ballet lessons, a bouldering wall, ice rink, sauna, steam room (hammam) and swimming pool.

The indoor pool is 25m long and also features a separate children's pool with bubble jets and a water slide. The is also a 50m outdoor pool open in the summer months.

Unlike many public swimming pools is France, Speedo style swimming trunks are not mandatory for men.

7. Chamonix tennis club

Set in the heart of the Chamonix valley, the Chamonix Tennis Club offers an exceptional setting for players of all levels. Part of the Roland Garros group of approved clubs, it features fifteen tennis courts – eleven outdoor and four indoor - as well as two squash courts and a beach tennis court.

The club also has a restaurant, La Terrasse des Tennis, with a terrace overlooking the courts, and a fully equipped Proshop. Nearby, you’ll find plenty of activities to enjoy, including the public swimming pool, skatepark, water sports base for rafting, and the QC Terme spa.
