Chamonix Apres-Ski Report: 27th March 2013

Easter weekend and it's all going on in Chamonix

This week's report kicks off with 2 top recommendations for how to spend your Wednesday night.

Firstly, get yourselves over to South Bar in Chamonix Sud for their first ever curry night; authentic Indian cuisine rustled up by the Thali "pop-up kitchen" guys. Starters, main course, rice, poppadums and all the trimmings for 20€ per person - it looks set to be a great night and they've taken plenty of bookings already so be quick if you want to book a table via their Facebook page.

You'll need a big feed to see you through to the following morning at the 2nd Full Moon Party at the White Hub, doors open at 11pm and close at 7am. Once you've lined your stomachs and refuelled your engines at South Bar you should be in fine fettle to hit the dancefloor to headlining live dubstep collective Engine Earz Experiment; they played a few gigs in Chamonix last winter and were pretty darn hot - click here to see them performing live at Outlook Festival. They'll be backed up by local legends of the dancefloors DJ Flo, Pop & Skred and G-Stylez. It's also a fancy dress party, so look out tomorrow morning for bedraggled strangely dressed people weaving their way home in broad daylight! Tickets are 10€ on the door, with a free drink between midnight and 1am.

It seems to be all about the food this week; everyone loves a good bowl of soup and there's nothing better to warm your belly after a day in the snow. Munster Bar is currently supporting the Irish charity GORTA, an Irish overseas development charity, in their Soup For Life, national soup week running until Friday. Call in for a delicious bowl of homemade soup served with fresh bread for just 5€ and help out a worthy cause at the same time - there you go, warm your belly and your heart.

This weekend is, of course, Easter and place to be is the Eden restaurant in Les Praz. They'll be teaming up with Le Petit VIP to host an Easter carnival complete with bouncy castle, face painting, treasure hunt and loads of other stuff for the kids. Adults can enjoy a drink from the bar and tuck into a full Sunday dinner of roast beef with all the trimmings followed by apple crumble and custard. The food at Eden is excellent, so I can highly recommend booking a place before they fill up 06.70.16.53.39 or 04.50.53.18.43. The carnival starts at 10:30am with dinner being served between 12 and 3pm, fun and food costs just 20€ for adults and 10€ for children.

Last week's Chamonix Girls Zone was every bit as good as expected, if not better! See some of the action on the video. Everyone had an absolutely wicked day with early morning powder runs, kicker and air bag comps followed by apres-ski at Boardriders and an after party at Le Vert. All the girls who attended can claim a free DVD with full coverage of the event and photos of themselves by liking this Facebook page.

So... curry, fancy dress, all-night party, soup, bouncy castle, Easter dinner - that's my week sorted, hope you enjoy yours! All these events and more can be found on our What's On calendar.
