Ski Touring temporarily banned in Le Tour
Balme-Charamillon area closed to public access
Due to recent snowfalls in the Chamonix valley and the upcoming opening of the Le Tour, Balme & Vallorcine ski area on December 10th, Compagnie du Mont Blanc technicians are hard at work getting the slopes ready for skiers. Chamonix town council have decided to close the area to the general public to avoid any danger to ski tourers.
The main risks come from the presence of snow grooming machines and other heavy machinery working on the pistes. The area marked in red in the image above, to the skier's right of Les Autannes chairlift, is therefore banned to the public. Additionally, access to Les Caisets piste will be forbidden from 15:00 to 08:00. This red run links the Balme-Charamillon ski area to the village of Le Tour.
This ban will remain valid until the opening day of the ski area, on December 10th, when the usual prohibition to practice ski touring on the pistes will take over.
