Bodies of 6 Mountaineers Found on the Aiguille d'Argentiere
Missing climbers & guide have been found on the Aiguille d'Argentiere
Sad news as the bodies of the missing mountaineers have been discovered at the Aiguille d'Argentiere.
The PGHM had been searching for the party of 6 (a guide and 5 clients) on foot and by helicopter since yesterday, and initially discovered the bodies of 5 of the group.
They had apparently left the refuge d'Argentiere and were heading up to the Aiguille d'Argentiere, but PGHM crews had found no trace of them after the refuge.
The group have been identified as French nationals, from Paris, the Loire and Switzerland whilst the guide was based in Les Racs in the winter and Chamonix in the summer.
It is thought that this tragedy may have occurred due to a wind-slab avalanche brought on by recent heavy snow fall at altitude.
Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of the group.
