Earlier in the week, it was announced that Titan Airways, the UK's leading VIP charter airline, have purchased flight only specialist Satellite Travel Group (STG) and its ski brand Snowjet. The Surrey based travel group has been offering seat only charter flights for over 25 years and is currently one of the biggest providers of air charter capacity to the ski market.

Celebrating its 21st birthday this year, the STG deal gives Titan a new dimension to its aviation activity and its first direct sales channel into popular ski airports such as Chambery. These flights will be sold under the Snowjet brand and whilst the majority of Snowjet flights will now be operated by the Titan Airways' jet fleet (on Boeing 757 and Boeing 737 aircraft), some of the fleet will be branded with Snowjet's own colours and the ski flight specialist will continue to work with other airlines.

Titan's Managing Director Gene Willson commented: “We have been looking for some time to acquire a reputable travel company that has the right fit with our expansion plans and Satellite Travel, with its strong focus and experience in the winter ski market is it…The company will benefit with strong financial backing from a financially sound airline and this is a great strategic fit.”

All of Snowjet's flights will remain ATOL protected and they will continue to sell flights from Gatwick, Stansted, Bristol and Manchester to Chambery. However, watch this space as they will be announcing the launch of some exciting new ski destinations in the coming week!
