Replacement of Brevent Planpraz Cable Car
For some time now there has been talk of replacing the Brevent Planpraz cable car with a more efficient people mover. First opened to the public way back in 1929 it was the highest telecabine in existence for over a quarter of a century. Reassuringly, since then, the lift has been continually improved and updated but the original concrete pylons still take the strain. No wonder, Brevent Planpraz is the latest lift to be targeted by the Compagnie de Mont Blanc for a complete overhaul.
However, according to local paper, Le Dauphiné Libéré, the project is being stalled due to indecision regarding what kind of lift to install; should it be a-state-of-the-art telecabine like that further up the valley in Valorcine or a funicular like those in Tignes and Val d'Isère. The debate continues.
