Register today for Mont Blanc Marathon 2012

It barely seems like last week since the 2011 edition of the Marathon du Mont Blanc, but registration has already opened for next year’s event.

The marathon fills up quicker and quicker each year, with places limited to just 2000 runners, so sign up soon if you want to be in with a chance.

There are 5 events happening over 3 days; the marathon (42km), Cross du Mont Blanc (23km), KM Vertical (3.5km), 10km du Mont Blanc (erm, 10km) and the Mini-Cross (kids races from 800m to 3km).

The KM Vertical was a new race, introduced last year for those who like to keep it short and sweet. It may only be 3.5km long but the course is a steep 1000m scramble up the Brevent path to Plan Praz, which last year’s winner stormed up in just 00:36:39.

The Marathon and the Cross start in the centre of Chamonix and finish up at Plan Praz, with the Marathon climbing 2511m and the Cross climbing 1454m in total. If the thought of that doesn’t put you off, visit the Mont Blanc Marathon website and sign up now!
