Mont Blanc ascension for Annecy 2018

To show their dedication to the Annecy 2018 Winter Olympics a team of high-profile people will climb the Mont Blanc on the 18th & 19th of June.

The team will consist of three pro-snowboarders Sylvain Dufour, Xavier de Le Rue and his brother Paul-Henri de Le Rue, as well as Charles Beigbeder (President of Annnecy 2018), Jean-Luc Rigaut (mayor of Annecy) and cyclist Cathy Moncassin-Prime.

In an effort to show support to the games but also as a tribute to Karine Ruby who climbed the Mont Blanc on the 18th of March 2009 to show her support of the project, who later died in a tragic accident on the Mont Blanc.

In other Olympics news, Annecy 2018 is in favour by the French. A recent poll organised by the radio station ODS shows 23% of the French are very much in favour towards the winter games and another 57% were in favour, 10% of respondents were unfavorable, 8% were strongly against and 2% were undecided.
