This weekend 2 EUR from every lift pass sold at the Aiguille du Midi and Montenvers cash desks will be donated to the Japanese Embassy to help victims of the recent earthquake.

As well as the sushi stall that took place a couple of weeks ago and the Winter Sessions Party last Friday night, the local council has also announced that they will be donating 10 000 EUR to the Japanese aid fund.

Chamonix has strong links with Japan; there is estimated to be around 50 Japanese people who have made Chamonix their home and the town is linked with that of Fujiyoshida, a city on the northern side of Mount Fuji.
