Hotel Les Lanchers reopens after €1.3m refurbishment
Hotel Les Lanchers in Chamonix Les Praz is opening its doors for the 2010/11 ski season following a €1.3m refurbishment of its bedrooms, restaurant and facilities.
The popular hotel is in an enviable location just two minutes walk from the Flégère cable car in the Les Praz village of Chamonix.
Hotel Les Lanchers dates back nearly 100 years and has built up a reputation for fine food, comfortable accommodation and personal service. The new investment is designed to build on this, enhancing the rooms and facilities, while retaining the warmth and welcome that has made it one of Chamonix's best-loved hotels.
The hotel now includes 19 fully refurbished en-suite bedrooms, including five superior rooms with bathrooms, and a specially equipped disabled bedroom, with lift access to all rooms.
Facilities including the lounge bar, sauna, terrace, boot and drying room, and ski storage room have also been re-designed to enhance the guest experience. The hotel refurbishment project was designed by architect, Christophe de Laage.
Les Lanchers' renowned Rendezvous Restaurant, popular with locals and guests, has built up a reputation for fine food made with fresh local ingredients. Chef Jean-Yves Bourgeois comes from Burgundy and creates traditional French, Savoyard and vegetarian dishes including rabbit pâté, tartiflette, fondue Savoyard, succulent steaks, fish and homemade desserts.
Jonathan Rogers, who owns Hotel Les Lanchers with his wife Celine, says: “The refurbishment has been extensive and has enhanced all of the facilities, but throughout it we wanted to retain the welcoming atmosphere that many of our guests return to year after year. We are now putting in the final touches and are looking forward to welcoming our first ski guests in the coming weeks. With the improvements we have made and the team we have in the hotel, guests can be sure of exceptional quality, comfortable accommodation and truly personal service in one of the Alps' best ski resorts.”
Hotel Les Lanchers has also been selected as part of the bid for the Winter Olympic Games Annecy 2018.
With views of Mont Blanc, the hotel offers easy access to the Flégère/Brevent ski area and beyond. The Flégère cable car is just a short walk from the hotel and there are regular trains and buses running between Les Praz and Chamonix centre, as well as to Argentiere (Les Grands Montets).
Prices for a three-night ski break at Hotel Les Lanchers start from 78 Euros per person, based on two-people sharing a double room, including breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course dinner.
Transfers can be arranged for 30 Euros per person from Geneva airport, which is just over an hour's drive (flights are not included).
Hotel Les Lanchers can also host weddings, business meetings and corporate events, with facilities to cater for up to 120 guests. Couples and companies both locally and from around the world have chosen the Rendezvous Restaurant for their big day for its exceptional location and fine food and service.
