Golf course in full swing

This early heat wave may be bringing the kiss of death to the remaining pistes, but it is giving summer activities a head start.

The Chamonix Golf Club has announced that as of today its 18 hole course is now open. The driving range has already been open for 20 days, so keen golfers have already been out there practising their swings and topping up their tans (isn't that the main point of golf?).

Normally the driving range opens up mid-April, with the golf course opening fully at the beginning of May but the unseasonably warm weather has prompted an early start to the summer season – fingers crossed that the rest of summer 2011 is just as nice!
