There's been much gossiping about the lift passes in the Valley this winter, so here's the state of play as we understand it to be at the moment.

Lift passes for the forthcoming winter season and annual go on sale as of 24 October 2008 from Montenvers as usual.

RESIDENTS:
If you hold a 'Resident Secondaire' or 'Gens de Pays' card, you must present this at the cash desk to be able to benefit from the following prices. To get a 'Resident Secondaire' card you must be a property owner in the Valley (Servoz to Vallorcine). You need to take all necessary paperwork (usually taxe fonciere bills) to your local Mairie. To have a 'Gens de Pay' card you MUST be registered for tax in France AND live in the commune (whether renting or owned by you). You need to take your 2007 tax Attestation to your local Mairie to get the card.

The residents prices for 2008/2009 are on offer UNTIL THE 23rd NOVEMBER 2008 at the following rates:
Mont Blanc Unlimited Annual: Adult = €600, Couple €1020
Chamonix Pass Annual: Adult = €478, Couple €813

If you buy these residents passes on or after the 24th November 2008 the prices are:
Mont Blanc Unlimited Annual: Adult €700, Couple €1190.
Note the price of the Chamonix Passes for residents doesn't change.

NON-RESIDENTS:
This year, the prices for passes for those not eligible for residents passes are as follows:
Mont Blanc Unlimited Annual: Adult = €1400
Mont Blanc Unlimited Season: Adult = €1077
Chamonix Pass Annual: Adult = €956
Chamonix Pass Season: Adult = €735

There are also 'packs' available for those who may come to Chamonix a couple of times a year or even seasonnaires who won't make the best use of a season pass.

As last year, 5, 10 and 15 day packs are available for Chamonix Pass and Mont Blanc Unlimited passes. For example, a standard price 5 day Mont Blanc Unlimited Pack costs €235 and gives you any five days' use of the lifts between November 2008 and 31st December 2009.

There are also 'Earlybird savers' for those skiing early in the season between 6 and 21 Dec 08 (all subject to snowfall of course). A one day MBU pass costs €48,50, but the two day pass costs €49,50 - just €1 extra for two days of consecutive skiing. Also, the Chamonix Pass for one day is at an early season price of €28,50 per day.

Don't forget, the Montenvers office opens for season/annual/pack lift passes as of the 24th October 2008. Happy skiing!
