easyJet now offering online check in for passengers with hold luggage
For a good while now if you fly easyJet with just hand luggage, you can check in online and print your own boarding cards off up to 60 days in advance of your flight date, saving you time at the airport as you head straight to the boarding gate rather then checking in.
Now the airline has announced passengers flying on easyJet from all UK airports will be able to check in online when travelling with hold luggage. Not all destinations are covered at the moment, with the 18 destinations expected to join the 94 that will accept online check in very soon. We've checked the list and the likes of Geneva and Grenoble airports are included.
Checking in online with hold baggage means you can save time and hassle at the airport by pre-printing your own boarding passes. Once at the airport you take your hold bags to a special drop off point and present your boarding pass, by passing the standard check in procedure. There will be no charge for checking in hold luggage online or by the conventional procedure.
In the official press release from easyJet there were no details on whether you will be allocated a Group A boarding pass. If this is the case, we reckon nearly everyone on the flight will be Speedy Boarder Pluses, Speedy Boarders or Group A which seems to negate the tiered boarding system, but we guess we'll just have to see how it works. Please let us know!
The full details of the new online hold baggage check in can be found in the full easyJet press release.
