A Snowy Mini Adventure
Most people would accept that skiing and rally driving are exciting enough sports to only have to do one at a time. Not Guerlain Chicherit, though! The 32 year old Frenchman from Tignes is a professional skier and a sponsored rally car driver, who decided to combine his two favourite sports by creating the Mini ALL4.
The incredible modified rally car can drive on snow-covered slopes, jump a 30m gap, and can even handle rails! Guerlain is sponsored by Mini and Monster Energy Drink, who allowed him to tinker away with a Mini rally car until he had adapted it to handle on snow without losing any of its speed, manoeuvrability or performance. Check out the amazing video below of Guerlain putting the car through its paces on the lake at Tignes.
He said of his modifications, “I wasn't allowed to destroy the race car, so I haven't made that many changes to what was already a very expensive car - I've just applied different driving techniques, which are more similar to skiing.”
When asked how he came up with the idea Guerlain replied, “I love the rush of adrenalin that both sports can bring and one day I came up with this crazy idea of doing them both together... I wanted to do exactly what I do with my skis, in my car... I couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before.” What will Guerlain think of next...?!
