Created and led by author-photographer Teresa Kaufman since 2011, the Discovery Walks propose unique & confidential itineraries for world-travellers and photo & smartphone buffs to observe & capture scenes of the traditional Chamonix nature, scenery and life-style.

INCLUDED on all the Discovery Walks is a Mini-Photoshoot where Teresa’s talent is at your service to photograph or film you – with your smartphone during the experience

A large selection of itineraries - in both summer and winter - will allow you to uncover some of the valleys most beautiful and photogenic locations. On occasion, you will be crossing paths with the locals who also frequent these hidden paths. Originally designed to satisfy the curious photographer, Teresa has now adapted the walks to also satisfy smartphone and video artists as well as people who just want to soak up the atmosphere and better understand the valley in a more personal manner. And to come home with a selection of telling images to share.

Discovery Walk Prices:

  • Private tailor-made walks are available all year round, to fit your time and budget

Duration of the walks: these walks last around 3 hours, depending on the itinerary, but this is flexible and full-day outings can be organised on request.

Useful Info: you'll be walking on small village roads and grassy paths in summer which turn to snowy country paths in the winter. So weather-appropriate shoes with good soles are advisable. If you like using walking poles, feel free to bring them along. In the event of very poor weather a replacement date will be proposed.

3. Private guided hiking in the Chamonix Valley

4. Guided snowshoeing

Walk in a winter wonderland and wind your way slowly uphill, to secluded forest spots, frozen waterfalls and marvel at the beauty of the mountains. 

Breathing in crisp, cold air and walking through snow covered pine trees - all in an afternoon's snowshoeing in our valley!

Chamonix is home to many kilometres of forest, both at Valley level and also off the beaten track.

You can join a snowshoe group, or hire your own private guide to tailor make your magical day. Group sizes are a maximum of six people.

The main draw for people coming to Chamonix in winter is, of course, skiing and snowboarding. However, there’s other activities to do in Chamonix in the summer. 

Whether you're just looking for something to do when the lifts close or you simply don't ski, we promise you, you'll have no time to get bored here!

With five different parts of the valley to ski in, and a wealth of off-piste areas, the valley has something for every level of experience. There are around 150km of piste, 65 ski lifts, the pisted terrain ranges in altitude from 950m to 3,300m and not forgetting the world famous Vallée Blanche descent - a 20km long route that takes you from the Aiguille du Midi down 2,700m to town.

Chamonix is an outdoor activities paradise. The Alpine town and its surrounding mountains offer hundreds of things to do for every ability and every age.

 Some activities are perfect for solo travellers while others are more suited to romantic couples. Families and groups will also find a wide range of things to do in Chamonix. 

From relaxing to full on adrenaline, from child friendly to adults only, from outdoor fun to bad weather indoor activities, there is something for everyone in Chamonix.

Activities Guest Card

The Chamonix guest card ('carte d'hôte') is valid throughout the year (for the duration of your stay) and entitles you to various discounts throughout the valley, such as reductions at all the sports and cultural facilities including the swimming pool, ice rink, museums and covered parking.
